Caring for the planet is caring for our skin

Skin is a vital organ. Much more than we think. Despite how thin it is, it’s our only frontier with the world. If the environment is damaged, our skin will be too. Pollution, allergens, climate change: all these growing external factors are already having an impact on our skin. Caring for the planet is also caring for our skin health and for people.

La Roche-Posay’s mission has always been to do good to people thanks to Life-changing dermatology. We seek to bring the safest and most efficient dermatological solutions to improve quality of life. Today, consumers shouldn’t have to choose between products that are safe, efficient or sustainable. And this is exactly our ambition: offer fife-changing dermatology that is both good for people & for the planet.

These commitments already fuel the brand’s iconic ranges: Lipikar, Cicaplast, Anthelios, Hyalu B5. And this is just the start. As the N1 dermatologist-recommended skincare brand in the world, La Roche- Posay is determined to lead the environmental and social transformation that the world and our skin crucially need.

OUR GLOBAL ROADMAP TO REDUCE & REPLACE PLASTIC

These new tubes integrating cardboard are part of a broader environmental roadmap set by La Roche-Posay in 2020. Its ambition is to reduce its use of plastic and replace virgin plastic by recycled material in all its products and ranges, while not compromising on product efficiency & consumer safety.

The brand is committed to reaching 70% of recycled plastic by 2025.

KEY FIGURES

25%
In 2020, La Roche-Posay reached 25% of recycled plastic, 10 times more than in 2018

70%
La Roche-Posay’s goal is to reach 70% of recycled plastic used in 2025, 100% by 2030

10 000
By reaching 70% of recycled plastic, the brand will save 10 000 tons of virgin plastic

This environmental commitment is not new. The brand has been committed for several years now to innovating and producing sustainably. To only mention two examples:

  • The Active Cosmetics Production plant at La Roche-Posay reached Carbon Neutral in 2018, thanks to the pioneering use of bio propane as of 2016, a first of its kind for the industry in France. This bio sourced gas is made of used cooking oil and organic plants, it is renewable and doesn't require any fossil fuel.
  • Besides, La Roche-Posay got rid as of 2018 of all the paper leaflets in its products and replaced them by digital information now available on its website
